Peter Mbah, Chairman of the National Economic Council (NEC) Ad Hoc Committee, says the Federal Government is committed to renovating and equipping Nigeria’s police and security training institutions. The committee is on a one-month mission to assess the state of these facilities, including Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) training schools, to draft a comprehensive plan for their overhaul.
Mbah, who leads the southern team, described many institutions as “disturbing” and stressed the urgent need for reconstruction and modern equipment to meet 21st-century policing standards. The initiative, personally driven by President Bola Tinubu, aims to provide world-class training for security personnel, particularly with the recent recruitment of 30,000 new police officers.
Together with experts and consultants, Mbah’s committee is mapping out a detailed blueprint, ensuring restoration of dignity, confidence, and professionalism among security personnel nationwide.
