FALCONETS CRUSH GHANA 3-0 TO CLAIM WAFU-B U20 GIRLS CUP TITLE WITH A GAME TO SPARE

Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s national team, the Falconets, completed a dominant run in the 2025 WAFU-B U20 Girls Cup with a commanding 3-0 victory over Ghana’s Black Princesses at Stade Omnisports d’Adjohoun, Benin. This win gave Nigeria a rare double over Ghana after a 3-1 triumph in the tournament opener.

Janet Akekoromowei opened the scoring with a stunning free-kick in the 17th minute, followed by Alaba Olabiyi’s quick close-range finish to double the lead. Ramotalahi Kareem sealed the victory with her third goal of the tournament in the 61st minute, sharing the top scorer spot with Akekoromowei.

With nine points from three matches and an impressive +8 goal difference, Nigeria clinched the championship ahead of the final match against Benin Republic, while Ghana finished with six points.

The Falconets’ win avenged their penalty shootout loss to Ghana in the inaugural edition two years earlier and showcased their relentless attacking prowess and composure under pressure.

Coach Moses Aduku now heads into the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers on a high, with Nigeria firmly established as West Africa’s premier youth women’s team.
