YOUTHS BLOCK MAKURDI HIGHWAY IN PROTEST OVER GUNMEN ATTACKS IN NASARAWA

Hundreds of angry youths from the Sarkin Noma Community in Keana Local Government, Nasarawa State, blocked the Lafia–Makurdi highway Friday to protest persistent gunmen invasions and kidnappings. Carrying placards and leaves, they halted traffic to demand urgent government action after gunmen stormed their community, abducting an elderly man and killing two youths who tried to rescue him.

Youth leader Ogu Iliya revealed the gunmen, suspected to be herdsmen, target residents selling farm produce, making life unbearable. Police, led by Commissioner Shettima Jauro-Mohammed, restored calm and assured investigations to bring perpetrators to justice.

The incident highlights growing insecurity in the region and urgent calls for effective security measures.
