PDP CRISIS DEEPENS: FACTION SACKS BOARD OF TRUSTEES CHAIRMAN, CALLS FOR UNITY

The ongoing crisis rocking Nigeria’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) escalated as the faction led by acting National Chairman Alhaji Muhammed Abdulrahman sacked the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Sen. Adolphus Wabara, citing loss of moral authority and political neutrality. This decision came at an emergency meeting of the newly constituted BoT, with Nyesom Wike and other PDP leaders in attendance.

Isah Dansidi was appointed as the new BoT Secretary, replacing Sen. Ahmed Makarfi, who, like Wabara, was criticized for taking sides in the party’s crisis. Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa was elected BoT Chairman, vowing to restore the BoT as the party’s moral compass and to mediate unity among stakeholders.

The BoT also upheld the Federal High Court’s injunction stopping the national convention previously scheduled for November 15-16 in Ibadan, advocating strict adherence to legal and party provisions before moving forward. Acting Chairman Abdulrahman emphasized the need for the BoT to serve as a voice of unity, justice, and fairness for all Nigerians.

Former Governor Jim Nwobodo urged the new leadership to heal divisions and welcomed reconciliation efforts, commending Nyesom Wike’s role in rebuilding the party.
