Dr Sule Shu’aibu, Kaduna State’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, has urged the establishment of mobile courts to swiftly prosecute traffic offenders and serve as a deterrent. Speaking at a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) town hall meeting during the 2025 Ember Months Public Enlightenment Campaign, he lamented that despite repeated road safety campaigns, accidents continue unabated.
Shu’aibu praised FRSC’s dedication and called on citizens to uphold basic driving etiquette. FRSC Kaduna Sector Commander Tijjani Iliyasu emphasized collaboration with stakeholders, security agencies, and human rights activists to educate drivers on safe driving, reduce crashes, and protect human life. He also highlighted the role of religious leaders in promoting respect for life.
Iliyasu revealed many accidents in the state are linked to drug use and urged avoiding speeding, overloading, and night driving, while maintaining vehicles properly. The campaign theme was “Take Responsibility for Your Safety: Avoid Distractive Driving.”
Participants included members from the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Nigeria Police, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NEMA, NSCDC, NBA, NUPENG, tricycle owners, human rights groups, and religious leaders.
