The All Indigenous Contractors Association of Nigeria (AICAN) has paused its nationwide protest following the intervention of the Senate, led by spokesperson Sen. Adeyemi Adaramodu. The protest, demanding payment for over $3 billion worth of capital projects completed in 2024, had disrupted activities around the National Assembly.
AICAN President Jackson Nwosu and Vice President Fredrick Agada announced the suspension, hoping the Senate’s mediation will lead to results by November 11. The Federal Government had released a ₦760 billion warrant to ministries and agencies, but payments awaited clearance.
Nwosu warned if the issue is not resolved by the deadline, protests will resume, including outreach to foreign embassies to highlight the government’s handling of the debt crisis. The protest underscored frustrations over delayed payments despite multiple government meetings.
