FRSC WARN TRANSPORT OPERATORS IN ABIA: REST YOUR DRIVERS, AVOID FAKE TYRES TO PREVENT ROAD CRASHES

Ngozi Ezeoma, FRSC Sector Commander in Anambra, has issued a strong warning to transport companies to avoid overusing drivers without rest, urging strict compliance during the 2025 Ember Months campaign. Speaking in Aba, Ezeoma highlighted that driver fatigue significantly reduces concentration and contributes to road crashes in Abia State.

She stressed that any transport operator flouting road safety rules risks losing their operating certificate. Ezeoma also warned against the use of fake or expired vehicle tyres, citing FRSC findings that tyre bursts caused all recorded auto accidents that needed rescue in Abia this year.

She emphasized the dangers of speeding, explaining that vehicles are harder to control at high speeds if tyres burst. Ezeoma urged drivers to always prioritize passenger and road user safety with vigilance and disciplined driving.

Supporting her call, Abia’s Transport Commissioner Chimezie Ukaegbu and transport union leaders underscored the shared responsibility for safety. The town hall meeting also featured calls for strong advocacy against drunk driving and investment in quality tyres.

The event closed with commitments to proactive safety education, driver discipline, and stronger partnerships to ensure accident-free roads in the region.
