President Bola Tinubu’s administration is driving robust measures to tackle Nigeria’s security challenges head-on, blending military revamps, socio-economic initiatives, and regional diplomacy.
Speaking at a news conference, spokesperson Alake stressed that insecurity predates the current government but praised recent transformative changes in security architecture and leadership aimed at injecting fresh energy into the fight against terrorism and banditry.
Significant recent changes include strategic overhauls of top security personnel in 2023 and again recently, designed through careful planning to achieve tangible results, evidenced by progress in the past two years compared to the previous decade.
Alake also clarified that terrorism in Nigeria is not about targeting any specific religion but rooted in economic and political motives, sometimes wrongly interpreted due to the religious profile of affected communities.
He urged media to amplify the successes of Nigeria’s armed forces rather than propagating misleading narratives about violence and insecurity.
