PDP BOARD OF TRUSTEES SETS UP RECONCILIATION COMMITTEE TO UNITE WARRING FACTIONS AHEAD OF NATIONAL CONVENTION

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) has established a high-powered reconciliation committee to heal internal rifts threatening party unity. BoT Chairman, Sen. Adolphus Wabara, announced the committee following an emergency meeting in Abuja amid tensions sparked by the recent appointment of Abdulrahman Mohammed as acting National Chairman, which led to a security lockdown at the National Secretariat.

Wabara condemned the invasion of the secretariat as uncharacteristic and emphasized that the BoT remains neutral but committed to safeguarding PDP’s integrity through dialogue and reconciliation. The committee, chaired by Amb. Hassan Adamu and Secretary Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, includes members from all geopolitical zones and is tasked with restoring unity before the elective National Convention in Ibadan slated for November 15-16.

Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum reaffirmed the convention’s schedule, citing a landmark court ruling affirming the party’s constitutional right for the process. He called for unity and visionary leadership, stressing the need to strengthen democracy amid Nigeria’s security challenges and foreign interference risks.
