The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, underscored the critical importance of cultivating combat-ready warriors for operational success during a seminar at Jaji Military Cantonment, Kaduna. Highlighting warrior ethos as a foundation of effectiveness, the seminar titled ‘From Trauma To Triumph: Building Combat Ready Warriors in the Nigerian Army’ covered mental resilience, managing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and combating drug and substance abuse among personnel.
Represented by Maj.-Gen. Ademola Adedoja, COAS praised the initiative by the Army’s Department of Transformation and Innovation aimed at fostering mental toughness and operational advantage amid evolving security challenges. The seminar combined expert lectures and interactive sessions on warrior ethos, PTSD recovery, and the detrimental impact of substance abuse on troop readiness.
Maj.-Gen. Olusegun Abai, Chief of Transformation and Innovation, emphasized enhancing leadership capacity and reinforcing the fighting spirit across all army cadres. The Nigerian Army remains committed to adapting strategies and nurturing the indomitable spirit necessary to safeguard national stability.
