Katsina State Government has allocated N156.3 billion for the education sector in its 2026 budget proposal, representing the largest share at 17.14 percent of the total N897.8 billion budget. The announcement was made by Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Malik Anas.
The education funding covers basic, secondary, and higher education and is part of a broader budget titled “Building Your Future III,” which marks a 30 percent increase over the 2025 budget. Other significant budget allocations include N117.1 billion for Works, Housing, and Transport (13.05%), N78.6 billion for Agriculture and Livestock Development (8.76%), and N67.5 billion for Health (7.52%).
Notably, 81.23 percent of the budget or N730.1 billion is set aside for capital expenditure to drive infrastructure development, while N167.7 billion (18.68 percent) covers recurrent expenditure including salaries and administrative costs.
Governor Dikko Radda emphasized that the participatory budgeting process involved consultations with over 71,000 citizens, ensuring the budget reflects community priorities. The state continues to support education with substantial bursary allocations and sponsorships for students studying locally and abroad.
