Dr. Gabriel Nwambu, Director-General of the Centre for Credible Leadership and Citizens Awareness (CCLCA), has called on the judiciary to expedite the dispensation of justice regarding political party affairs. Speaking amid ongoing challenges in Nigeria marked by insurgency and political instability, Nwambu stressed the judiciary must avoid issuing frivolous court orders that undermine democratic processes.
He highlighted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition, is suffering internal chaos partly fueled by conflicting legal battles, which threatens the nation’s democratic stability. Nwambu lamented that this legal turmoil has led to widespread defections diminishing the party’s strength.
Calling for specialized, swift legal procedures to resolve intra-party conflicts, he emphasized the judiciary’s pivotal role in safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy and security. Nwambu urged bold disciplinary actions to restore public confidence and judicial integrity.
“The judiciary can either save or sentence our democracy,” he warned, urging it to restore credibility through fair and efficient justice delivery.
