XI JINPING AND RUSSIAN PRIME MINISTER MISHUSTIN PLEDGE TO EXPAND MUTUAL INVESTMENT DESPITE GLOBAL TURBULENCE

Chinese President Xi Jinping met Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People to affirm a strong commitment to deepen China-Russia relations amid challenging global conditions. Xi highlighted that despite “turbulent” external environments, the two nations continue progressing towards higher-quality development, stressing the strategic importance of fostering this partnership.

The leaders discussed expanding collaboration in key sectors—energy, agriculture, aerospace, digital economy, and green development—aiming to create new engines for joint growth. Mishustin supported efforts to facilitate mutual investments and boost cooperative projects.

Their meeting follows daily talks between Mishustin and Chinese Premier Li Qiang, reflecting a coordinated approach to maintain solid bilateral ties while countering Western sanctions impacting Russia. Since their “no-limits” partnership agreement in 2022, both countries have strengthened trade, energy, and financial cooperation, despite recent pressures from the U.S.

The two governments jointly pledged to resist unilateral sanctions perceived as illegal and emphasized continuing cooperation for mutual economic and social development.
