Lagos is set to host the inaugural Shakara Festival, a thrilling four-day outdoor celebration of African music, culture, and lifestyle from December 18 to 21, 2025, at Nautica Beach Resort, Lekki. Founder Godson Oriaku describes the festival as the ultimate destination for ‘Detty December,’ aiming to elevate African music globally and showcase Nigeria’s vibrant sounds and style.
Expect over 20,000 daily attendees, including returning diasporans and African music lovers. The festival features panel discussions with industry leaders, a lively marketplace “Shakara Junction” for food, fashion, and crafts, and dynamic live performances spanning Afrobeats, Soul, Alté, Gospel, Afro-Fusion, and more.
As night falls, “Shakara Afterdark” takes over with exclusive parties hosted alongside Lagos’s top rave collectives. The festival is envisioned as a cultural movement, uniting Africa’s diverse musical voices and offering an authentic, immersive experience of Nigeria’s creative power.
