The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the North Central Zone has disassociated itself from the purported suspension and removal of the party’s National Chairman, Malam Umar Damagun, by the Sen. Anyanwu-led faction. PDP North Central spokesperson Francis Orogu described the crisis as an avoidable political crisis and urged strict implementation of pending NEC decisions to strengthen the party ahead of the National Convention.
Orogu condemned attempts by some individuals to pull the North Central Zone into factional schemes, warning Abdulrahaman Mohammed, purported acting National Chairman, to avoid actions that could deepen the crisis.
Similarly, the PDP National Ex-Officio Forum condemned the unlawful invasion of the PDP National Secretariat by Anyanwu’s supporters as an assault on democratic values and party unity. The Forum reaffirmed loyalty to Damagun, vowing to pursue peace, reconciliation, and reform despite internal strife.
Meanwhile, the Forum of Youth Leaders across Nigeria expressed support for Mohammed, urging party stakeholders to unite in resolving issues for the party’s progress.
