NIGERIA APPOINTS DR JOHN NWABUEZE AS TAX OMBUDSMAN TO BOOST TRANSPARENCY AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION

President Bola Tinubu has officially appointed Dr. John Nwabueze as Nigeria’s Tax Ombudsman, a key role established under the Joint Revenue Board of Nigeria (Establishment) Act, 2025. The appointment highlights the government’s commitment to reforming Nigeria’s tax and revenue system with fairness and transparency, confirmed by Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.

Dr. Nwabueze brings extensive expertise from his previous roles, including Managing Partner of a tax advisory firm and Chief Economic Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He holds advanced degrees in business administration, accounting, and mathematics from top universities.

The Tax Ombudsman office aims to protect taxpayers’ rights by providing a robust platform to resolve disputes related to taxes, levies, customs duties, and excise matters impartially and without prejudice.

President Tinubu expressed confidence in Dr. Nwabueze’s professionalism, emphasizing this appointment as a step towards strengthening trust and accountability within Nigeria’s tax administration framework.
