KWARA POLICE LAUNCHES INVESTIGATION INTO VIRAL EXTORTION VIDEO, PROMISES ACTION

The Kwara State Police Command has initiated a full investigation into a viral video showing police officers allegedly extorting money from motorists along the Osi-Eruku road in Ekiti Local Government Area. Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo has ordered an immediate and thorough probe, with promises that any officers found guilty will face disciplinary measures.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, emphasized the command’s commitment to professionalism, integrity, and accountability. She also called on the public to support the police by providing credible information to help sustain law and order.

The viral footage sparked public outcry, highlighting concerns about some officers’ conduct, especially those deployed to fight banditry. Police reassured the community that errant officers would not be tolerated, and investigations are ongoing to hold culprits accountable.
