In a notable political shift, over 100 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Tarai in Kibiya Local Government Area, led by woman leader Hajiya Sabuwa Tarai, have defected to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). Kano State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Alhaji Adamu A Kibiya, warmly welcomed the defectors.
According to a statement by Balarabe Kiru, Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, the defectors cited the impactful development projects and programmes carried out by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration as their motivation for joining NNPP.
Hajiya Tarai expressed admiration for the numerous projects implemented at both the local government and state levels, bolstering the case for the NNPP’s growing appeal. Commissioner Kibiya assured the newcomers of equal treatment and encouraged unity to drive the party’s progress.
Governor Yusuf’s administration has recently approved billions of naira towards infrastructure, education, water, and energy projects across Kano, solidifying the state’s trajectory towards inclusive development and improved living standards.
