UMAHI ORDERS FINISHING TOUCHES ON ENUGU-PORT HARCOURT EXPRESSWAY BY NOVEMBER

Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, has given Arab Contractors a strict deadline to complete the remaining 4.5 kilometres of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway in Abia State before the end of November. After inspecting the site in Aba, Umahi expressed frustration with the slow progress on this critical last stretch of the 112-kilometre road, warning that failure to meet the deadline would lead to contract revocation.

Umahi assured the contractors of prompt payments, praising the financial reliability of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He also commended Governor Alex Otti for his strong support and commitment to the project’s success. Abia’s governor vowed full backing to ensure timely completion, expecting the road segment to be commissioned by December.

The project is roughly 95% done, with the major dualisation completed. The contractor pledged to deploy full resources to meet the December completion goal, backed by continued federal funding. The Port Harcourt-bound lane has reached an advanced stage, and the Enugu-bound lane is fully completed.

Umahi stressed his commitment by vowing weekly inspections to ensure the finishing touches filling with sharp sand, concrete laying, and final stone base are done without delay.
