The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has kicked off a N2 billion appeal fund to build its own headquarters in Abuja, celebrating six decades of shaping Nigeria’s sports narratives. National President Isaiah Benjamin, speaking at the diamond jubilee, said SWAN has matured and now deserves a befitting home to match its legacy.
“For 60 years, SWAN has been the voice of Nigerian sports—telling stories of triumph, struggle, and passion that define our sporting identity,” Benjamin said. He called the new building a symbol of SWAN’s commitment to connecting athletes, fans, and policymakers.
SWAN, founded in 1964 and celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2025, aims to deepen its impact by having a dedicated space for sports journalism innovation and collaboration.
