Troops of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army in Lokoja successfully rescued two kidnapped victims a man and a woman and recovered ₦3.8 million in ransom money during a daring operation on Sunday in Achigili Forest along the Itobe–Adumu–Ejule road. The operation, led by troops stationed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Oguma, was launched following credible intelligence of kidnapping activities and ransom negotiations on November 2, 2025.
While en route to intercept the kidnappers, the soldiers were met with gunfire but responded with superior firepower, forcing the criminals to flee and abandon the victims and ransom money. The victims were promptly debriefed and are now in safe custody, with the ransom returned to them.
Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, Brigade Spokesperson, stated that the Nigerian Army remains steadfast in its mission to protect lives and property. He called on the public to continue supporting military efforts by providing timely and credible information to combat criminal activities in the state.
This rescue follows a series of successful military operations in Kogi, reflecting the army’s ongoing commitment to securing the region against kidnapping and other criminal threats.
