A terrifying stabbing spree aboard a high-speed train from Doncaster to London King’s Cross shocked passengers and left nine people seriously injured, according to British Transport Police. The incident happened shortly after the train left Peterborough station in Cambridgeshire on Saturday evening.
Armed police quickly responded at Huntingdon station, where two men were arrested in connection with the attack. One attacker armed with a large knife was tasered by officers on board after a brutal rampage that sent passengers running for cover, some hiding in toilets to escape.
Ten victims were taken to hospital, nine with life-threatening wounds, though by November 2, four had been discharged. The attack lasted roughly 10-15 minutes and caused widespread panic, with vivid eyewitness accounts describing blood everywhere and frantic attempts to flee the scene.
Counter Terrorism Policing is assisting the ongoing investigation into the attack’s motive, though authorities say it is not currently treated as terrorism. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the attack “deeply concerning” and praised the emergency responders for their swift action.
