LT.-GEN. SHAIBU SHAKES UP NIGERIAN ARMY LEADERSHIP WITH KEY APPOINTMENTS

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has approved major postings and appointments of senior officers to boost leadership and operational strength across the Nigerian Army. This reshuffle covers important command, staff, and training roles aimed at enhancing discipline and readiness.

Several Major Generals and Brigadier Generals have been redeployed to strategic positions. For example, Maj.-Gen. Bamidele Alabi moves to Army Headquarters as Chief of Policy and Plans, while Maj.-Gen. Jamal Abdulsalam heads to Defence Headquarters as Chief of Defence Operations. Maj.-Gen. Peter Mala is now Commander at TRADOC, and Maj.-Gen. Samson Jiya takes charge of Defence Accounts and Budget.

Other notable appointments include Maj.-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso as Chief of Operations (Army), Maj.-Gen. Isa Abdullahi as Chief of Administration, and Maj.-Gen. Musa Etsu-Ndagi as Chief of Civil-Military Affairs. At training institutions, Maj.-Gen. Oluyemi Olatoye is the new Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy.

Lt.-Gen. Shaibu urged the officers to apply their experience and foresight to build a disciplined, combat-ready force capable of tackling today’s security challenges. He highlighted the importance of teamwork, loyalty, integrity, and excellence in driving ongoing operational success.
