KATSINA AIMS TO BOOST REVENUE TO N140 BILLION BY 2026

Katsina State is setting its sights on increasing its internally generated revenue (IGR) to about N140 billion by 2026, according to the state government. Speaking at the launch of the ‘State of States 2025 Report’ by BudgIT in Abuja, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Malik Anas, shared the ambitious plan.

Anas revealed that the state’s IGR has grown from N10 billion in 2021 to N24 billion in 2024, but there’s still room to do better. To achieve this, Katsina is adopting a community-driven tax approach, connecting revenue collection directly to visible grassroots development.

The government has introduced an e-invoice system for real-time tax assessment and payment, which helps reduce leakages and encourages compliance. Additionally, a comprehensive enterprises’ data warehouse is being built to include all small and medium-sized businesses, aiming to broaden the tax base.

Anas emphasized that with full implementation of their data and digital systems, Katsina expects to hit the N140 billion mark annually by 2026, supporting more meaningful development across the state.
