The Kano State Government has granted more than ₦8.2 billion for vital projects across education, water supply, and energy sectors aimed at boosting infrastructure, improving learning standards, and enhancing access to clean water and efficient energy. This approval was made during the state’s 33rd Executive Council Meeting chaired by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Of the total amount, over ₦4.9 billion is allocated for key education initiatives such as the Phase II renovation of Government Technical College, Ungogo; settling debts owed to boarding school feeding suppliers; producing instructional materials through the Kano Printing Press; finishing and furnishing the e-library at Kano State College of Education and Preliminary Studies; and conducting accreditation exercises at Kano State Polytechnic. Funds have also been approved for office furniture and fittings at Northwest University, Kano, to enhance both academic and administrative functions.
In addition, ₦3.3 billion has been earmarked for water supply and energy projects, including the construction of a water treatment plant in Rano Local Government Area, settlement of outstanding electricity bills, and the purchase of diesel and petrol for water treatment plants. These efforts are designed to ensure consistent access to clean water and improve energy efficiency for residents throughout Kano.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to prioritize projects that deliver tangible improvements in citizens’ lives and advance the state’s developmental agenda.
