The Jos Community Film Festival (JOCOFFEST) is stepping up big for Plateau youths, selecting 200 participants for varied training and empowerment programs aimed at helping them build sustainable livelihoods. Prof. Eddie Ossai, the festival’s founder and a Plateau State University lecturer, shared that the training will happen during the festival from November 5 to 7 in Gyel Community, Jos South LGA.
This initiative is focused on drawing young people away from the streets and equipping them with marketable skills to beat restlessness and reduce political or criminal manipulation. Skills on offer include film screening and mastering, soap making, systematic technology, content creation, special effects, and even junior golf tournaments.
Ossai emphasized how peace is key to stability and progress, and how empowering youth will curb their drift into destructive behaviors while helping them contribute positively to society.
