70 YEARS OF WOMEN IN NIGERIA POLICE: HONOURING COURAGE, RESILIENCE, AND SERVICE

The Nigeria Police Force is set to celebrate 70 years of women in policing this December 3 and 4, marking seven decades of dedication and bravery since the first policewomen joined in 1955. CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Force Public Relations Officer, announced that the event will be held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Olukayode Egbetokun, will join serving and retired female officers to commemorate this milestone that highlights the vital role women have played in strengthening law enforcement and building community trust across Nigeria.

The I-G praised the professionalism and compassion of female officers, recognizing their significant contributions from administration and investigations to tactical operations and leadership roles. He noted that women in the force have redefined policing with integrity, empathy, and excellence.

Planned activities include a national lecture, historical exhibition, panel sessions, and outreach programs. This celebration reaffirms the commitment to promote inclusivity, professionalism, and ongoing capacity development for women in the police force.
