The University of Jos has confirmed the tragic murder of Peter Mafuyai, a 300-level Banking and Finance student, by his friend and fellow student Nanpon Timnan, a 200-level Agricultural Science student. The university Registrar, Dr. Rejoice Songden, expressed deep sadness over the incident in a condolence message on Monday.
She clarified that the murder took place off campus during the academic break, as the 2024/2025 session had concluded in August and students are expected back on November 10 for the new session. The university condemned the act and assured the public that adequate security measures remain in place on campus.
Management is fully cooperating with security agencies to ensure a speedy investigation and justice for Mafuyai’s family. The university called for God’s comfort and strength for the bereaved family, friends, and colleagues.
