NUGA GAMES 2025: UNIVERSITY OF JOS SET TO WELCOME 10,000 ATHLETES FROM 22 UNIVERSITIES

The University of Jos is gearing up to host the 27th edition of the National Universities Games Association (NUGA) games, scheduled from November 6 to 16, 2025. Vice Chancellor Tanko Ishaya revealed that over 10,000 athletes from 22 universities across Nigeria will compete in a variety of sports, promising an exciting and memorable event.

During a road walk in Jos to drum up awareness, Ishaya expressed confidence in delivering one of the best NUGA games yet. He assured Nigerians that Plateau is safe, peaceful, and ready to warmly host visitors. He also thanked the Federal Government and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang for their unwavering support, highlighting the economic boost from hosting such a large event.

Prof. Taye Obateru, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Sub-Committee, emphasized the games as a platform to showcase Jos’ hospitality and vibrant sports culture, while Dr. Peter Gad, Global President of the University of Jos Alumni Association, noted the event’s potential to drive infrastructure development and change narratives about Plateau.
