The newly appointed Nigerian Service Chiefs have vowed to safeguard the country’s territorial integrity and combat multiple security threats like insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping. They shared their commitment during a presentation before the House of Representatives military joint committee.
Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Defence Staff designate, highlighted that his decades of military service have prepared him to lead Nigeria’s Armed Forces. He emphasized the importance of collective effort, strong inter-agency cooperation, and international partnerships to address national security challenges under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
Rear Admiral Abbas, Chief of Naval Staff designate, and Maj.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff designate, pledged to enhance efficiency and lead from the front, while Air Vice Marshal Kelvin Aneke, Chief of Air Staff designate, promised swift, decisive action to protect Nigeria from the skies.
House Committee Chairman Rep. Babajimi Benson reminded the nominees that Nigerians expect results as the country faces evolving threats from terrorism, cyber-insecurity, and maritime challenges. He assured a fair and thorough vetting process, stressing that the leadership is crucial for national peace and prosperity.
