The Nigerian Army is doubling down on transformational leadership training for its junior and middle cadre officers, emphasizing that strong leadership is key to success on the battlefield and other operations.
Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff, highlighted this during a seminar held at the 8 Division in Sokoto, delivered through Major-General Ibikunle Ajose. The training focuses on equipping frontline commanders with quick decision-making skills, moral sustaining abilities, and the capacity to lead troops effectively amidst Nigeria’s security challenges such as terrorism, insurgency, and banditry.
The seminar also addresses critical issues like Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and substance abuse, which affect combat readiness. The Nigerian Army continues to evolve tactics and strategies to remain adaptive and effective.
Oluyede praised participants for their dedication, urged them to uphold professionalism, and reassured continued support and resources from Army headquarters. The weekend-long event aims to build capable leaders who embody the discipline, resilience, and innovative spirit required for the modern military.
