Retired Brigadier-General Buba Marwa, Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), called on Nigerian youths to become intellectual ambassadors and advocates in the battle against drug abuse. Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the 2nd Peace Magazine Honour Roll Ceremony in Abuja, Marwa congratulated the awardees for their academic excellence and encouraged them to channel their brilliance into nation-building.
Marwa highlighted that drug abuse is the biggest saboteur of destiny and the enemy of excellence, posing a severe threat to Nigeria’s human capital and future. He urged the youths to leverage their influence to promote drug abstinence and responsible living, dispelling myths that drugs enhance creativity or help cope with life pressures. Marwa emphasized that true success comes from diligence and focus, not chemical intoxication.
He also reaffirmed NDLEA’s commitment to dismantling drug cartels and arresting traffickers, urging collective societal efforts to fight drug abuse. Marwa praised Peace Magazine for its role in celebrating academic distinction and providing a powerful counter-narrative to social decay.
