NDLEA CELEBRATES MAJOR WINS: 45,853 ARRESTS, 8.5 MILLION KGS OF DRUGS SEIZED IN 30 MONTHS

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has marked impressive milestones in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Retired Brigadier-General Buba Marwa, NDLEA Chairman, announced that in the last two and a half years, the agency has arrested 45,853 suspects, confiscated over 8.5 million kilograms of illicit drugs, and secured 9,263 convictions nationwide.

Marwa praised NDLEA officers for their courage and dedication, highlighting their vital role in halting drug cartels that threaten Nigeria’s social fabric and national security. The agency also counseled and rehabilitated over 26,000 drug users and conducted nearly 10,000 anti-drug sensitization activities across diverse communities.

Recognizing outstanding personnel, Marwa presented awards to 220 operatives and promoted 15 senior officers. He emphasized that despite successes, the challenge remains “monumental,” calling for continued vigilance, adherence to procedures, and collective effort to eradicate the drug menace.

Marwa expressed gratitude to government bodies, international partners like UNODC and the UK Border Force, and Nigerians who support the agency’s reforms and mission for a drug-free Nigeria.
