KEBBI GOV URGES TEACHERS TO EMBRACE TECHNOLOGY FOR BETTER LEARNING OUTCOMES

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi has called on teachers in the state to leverage technology to improve teaching and learning. Speaking at the 9th State Quadrennial Delegates’ Conference of the National Union of Teachers (NUT), Kebbi chapter, held in Birnin Kebbi, the governor’s message highlighted the vital role of technology in modern education.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary of Basic and Secondary Education, Alhaji Kabir Labbo-Jega, Idris stressed that technology is now a key driver of development and urged teachers to upgrade their tech skills for enhanced classroom effectiveness.

He praised teachers, saying, “The world revolves around teachers; they make the world.” The conference theme, “Embracing the Use of Technology in Increasing Teaching and Learning Outcomes”, reflects the changing educational landscape in the 21st century.

NUT Kebbi chairman Usman Adamu-Isgogo applauded the governor’s achievements, including recruitment of 2,000 teachers, school renovations, improved feeding programs, and called for continued support, including vehicles and computers for schools.

Guest speaker Prof. Bala Bakwai-Kwashabawa noted a shift from traditional methods to digital learning, accelerated by ICT adoption during the COVID-19 pandemic, and encouraged the use of software tools to ease lesson planning.

The governor also urged new NUT executives to lead with fairness and dedication, emphasizing that election victory means the start of service, not celebration.
