The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced that the Federal Government is meticulously reviewing citizenship applications from 170 foreign nationals, highlighting the importance of integrity and proven character in the process.
Making the declaration via his Twitter handle @Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the minister explained that the Citizenship Advisory Committee composed of top officials from key government bodies including the Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs, the Department of State Security, and the Nigeria Immigration Service is responsible for vetting applicants and making recommendations to President Bola Tinubu.
“Citizenship of the biggest black nation on earth is a valuable asset that requires careful consideration,” Tunji-Ojo said. He assured Nigerians that the process emphasizes integrity and character above all and that the government aims to make Nigeria a prosperous nation and a top destination globally.
This move reflects the administration’s commitment to transparency, security, and national development through responsible citizenship.
