Senator Andy Uba and his co-defendant Benjamin Etu will have to wait until November 6 to be arraigned in the Federal High Court, Abuja, over an alleged N400 million fraud. The matter was adjourned Tuesday because Justice Mohammed Umar, the trial judge, was occupied in another court division.
The judge had threatened to issue a bench warrant for Uba’s arrest for his persistent absence since the case was filed in 2024. Uba’s lawyer cited ill health as the reason, but the prosecution insists on proceeding.
The charge alleges that Uba and others conspired to defraud a businessman, Mr. George Uboh, by falsely promising the appointment of a managing director position at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for N400 million. The prosecution plans to call six witnesses to testify.
This case continues to draw attention as the court awaits Uba’s appearance to move forward with the trial.
