Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has showcased Abuja’s bold smart city vision at the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit in Dubai, highlighting strategic investments across five key pillars — Urban Mobility, Sustainability, Public Safety, Digital Governance, and Economic Empowerment.
Wike shared that Abuja is collaborating globally on cutting-edge projects like smart water metering with JICA, intelligence traffic lights backed by China, plus large-scale ventures like Abuja City Walk and the Abuja Industrial Park. These reflect Abuja’s commitment to innovation through public-private partnerships and city-to-city exchanges.
Describing Abuja as a purpose-built, evolving capital with a service-focused master plan, Wike said the city is rapidly advancing under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. This transformation includes improving public transport, smart waste management, solar street lighting with CCTV, digital land registries, and job creation through a growing tech scene.
He highlighted a National Employment Database launching soon to connect youth skills with job opportunities, promoting entrepreneurship.
“This smart city journey places citizens at the heart, building a safer, more inclusive, and prosperous Abuja,” Wike said.
