LAW OFFICERS IN KWARA COMMENCE THREE-DAY STRIKE OVER UNPAID ALLOWANCES AND DEMANDS

Law officers employed by the government in Kwara State have started a three-day warning strike to press for the payment of the outstanding 50 percent of their 2020 furniture allowance. Other key demands include payment of wardrobe allowance, appropriate implementation of state counsel and magistrates’ salaries according to the 2025 harmonization, and periodic professional training.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting following the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum on October 24, 2025, warned by the Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN), Kwara State chapter. The strike notice was initially issued on October 11 to take effect if demands were unmet.

The association expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s inaction despite the heavy workload and challenges law officers face, including prosecuting criminals and tax defaulters and addressing gender-based violence.

LOAN’s Chairman, Mrs. Medinat Abedisi, and Secretary, Ms. Tolulope Oniyide, signed the statement announcing the strike, emphasizing the necessity of the action to compel government response.
