The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State has publicly opposed the reported sole nomination of Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu as PDP’s National Chairman, urging that the North-West zone be allowed to present candidates following the party’s zoning arrangement.
State spokesperson Alhaji Sani Dododo clarified this stance during a briefing in Birnin Kebbi, highlighting that Tanimu did not consult party members in Kebbi before declaring his interest. He emphasized the importance of inclusive deliberation by North-West elders to produce a consensus candidate.
Dododo called on the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to respect this process and not allow what the state calls an imposition of Tanimu as chairman. The North-West faction seeks to choose its own representative fairly.
