NAOWA CHAIRPERSON DR. HALIMA TAFIDA-WASE URGES EARLY BREAST CANCER DETECTION: “IT’S NOT A DEATH SENTENCE”

Dr. Mrs. Halima Tafida-Wase, Chairperson of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA), 1 Division Chapter, emphasized at NAOWA’s Cancer Awareness Week 2025 in Kaduna that breast cancer can be treated successfully if detected early.

Speaking on the campaign themed “My Breast and I,” she highlighted the importance of women knowing their bodies, encouraging regular self-examinations and prompt reporting of any unusual changes to doctors. Tafida-Wase stressed breaking the silence around breast cancer, replacing fear with knowledge, courage, and self-love.

She praised doctors, nurses, survivors, and volunteers for their dedication, calling them heroes inspiring all. Recognizing the Chief of Army Staff’s wife for her impactful initiative, she reminded women that their health is their wealth and urged proactive health care.

Medical surgeon Dr. Rabi’a Adams further educated on breast cancer signs, symptoms, and the value of monthly self-examinations and regular health checks to promote early detection and better outcomes.
