The Kano State Government teamed up with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide much-needed relief materials to 357 victims of recent fire disasters. Beneficiaries include residents from communities in Kibiya Local Government Area and traders affected at Fatima Simra Multipurpose Market in Nassarawa.
Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Alhaji Adamu Aliyu-Kibiya, praised NEMA for their swift response and ongoing support, assuring transparent distribution to genuine victims. The government remains committed to enhancing disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.
NEMA’s Director-General, represented by Dr. Nura Abdullahi, emphasized that the relief aims to ease hardships and support recovery, not replace losses. Relief packages included rice, maize, spaghetti, vegetable oil, and seasoning cubes.
Residents were urged to practice fire safety and careful electrical appliance use to prevent future disasters. The intervention was based on thorough damage assessment and government approval. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the State and Federal Governments for the aid.
