The Oyo State Government, represented by PDP Publicity Secretary Mr. Michael Ogunsina, challenged unemployed youths to gain skills through entrepreneurship and vocational training to become job creators. At the graduation ceremony for 100 youths trained in Integrated Waste Recycling and Manufacturing by Planet 3R Limited in Ibadan, Ogunsina emphasized skill acquisition as a path to independence.
He called on youths to drop the narrative of laziness and actively pursue vocations of their choice, reaffirming government support for youth-focused skills development and entrepreneurship. The administration is committed to promoting MSMEs through funding and economic empowerment initiatives.
Mrs. Iyabo Ojogbede of SMEDAN encouraged trainees to use their new skills to start enterprises, promising government grants and soft loans to assist them. Planet 3R’s Managing Director, Ms. Adejoke Lasisi, highlighted the company’s mission to turn waste into wealth through sustainable, socially impactful projects, calling for more sector collaboration in waste recovery.
The event showcased diverse recycled products from plastic, nylon, textiles, and tires, including bags, footwear, car seat covers, mats, and pillows—demonstrating the potential of sustainable entrepreneurship.
