The Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has officially expelled former National Chairman Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam and other senior officials for misconduct and serious breaches of the party’s constitution. The announcement was made during a meeting in Abuja led by Acting National Chairman Dr. Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe.
According to National Publicity Secretary Mr. Rufus Aiyenigba, the expulsions follow a thorough investigation. On June 24, 2025, three national officers including Gabam, former National Youth Leader Mr. Ogbonna Chukwuma Uchechukwu, and former National Auditor Mr. Clarkson Nnadi were suspended amid allegations of financial and administrative wrongdoing. An independent disciplinary committee confirmed these violations and recommended action.
The NWC also condemned the illegal break-in at the SDP National Secretariat in Abuja on July 28, involving eight individuals now facing prosecution. As a result, Gabam and Uchechukwu were expelled, Nnadi resigned voluntarily, and the intruders were also removed from the party.
The NWC adopted a white paper outlining steps to strengthen governance and reaffirmed its commitment to discipline, accountability, and transparency within SDP.
