President Bola Tinubu has made significant changes to Nigeria’s top military leadership to strengthen the country’s defense and security framework. The appointments, announced by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, include Gen. Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing Gen. Christopher Musa.
Maj.-Gen. W. Shaibu steps in as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke takes over as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas assumes office as Chief of Naval Staff. Maj.-Gen. E.A.P. Undiendeye retains his role as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
President Tinubu thanked the outgoing chiefs for their service and urged the new leaders to uphold professionalism, vigilance, and unity within the Armed Forces. All appointments take immediate effect, marking a renewed push for enhanced military coordination and national security efforts.
