The Nigerian Stock Exchange saw a bullish day on Thursday with 926.9 million shares traded, valued at N26.9 billion across 30,703 deals—a 57% increase in volume and a 12% growth in turnover compared to the previous day. Japaul Gold led trading by volume with 436 million shares, while Lafarge WAPCO topped the value chart at nearly N7 billion.
Market capitalization rose by N479 billion, closing at N98.059 trillion, and the All-Share Index gained 753.65 points to settle at 154,489.90. Strong buying interest in stocks like PZ Cussons, The Initiates, and Aso Savings helped fuel the uptrend. However, market breadth was mixed, with 37 stocks falling against 34 gainers. Key losers included John Holt and Stanbic IBTC, while PZ Cussons and The Initiates led the gainers with 10% increases.
This surge reflects growing investor confidence amid sustained activity and positive sectoral performances.
