Quick action by security agencies prevented a fuel-related disaster in Kogi State after a tanker accident on the Felele Expressway, Lokoja. According to FRSC Sector Commander Tenimu Etuku, the Abuja-bound tanker’s tank disconnected and rolled into a ditch, but thankfully, no casualties occurred as the driver and assistant escaped unhurt.
FRSC teams responded swiftly, joined by the Police, NSCDC, Mobile Police, and Crusher community leaders, immediately sealing off the site to stop residents from scooping fuel. The commander stressed the move was crucial to avoid tragedies like those in Niger and Jigawa States, where fire outbreaks claimed many lives during fuel thefts.
Community members are urged to stay clear of the spilled fuel, as authorities maintain surveillance to ensure safety. The collective effort demonstrates the power of vigilance and community cooperation in preventing disaster.
