Sharp-eyed officers at the Nigeria Customs Service, Tin Can Island Command, have intercepted two containers packed with vehicles concealing illicit drugs worth an eye-popping ₦5.3 billion! Comptroller Frank Onyeka says the bust is proof of their no-nonsense, intelligence-led approach to border security.
In the first container from Montreal, Canada, officers uncovered 156 packets of Colorado Indica (78kg) and 1.2kg of Hashish Oil stashed in cars. The second, nabbed just days ago following fresh tip-offs, was loaded with over a ton of Cannabis Indica and eight kilograms of Crystal Meth—again hidden inside imported vehicles.
Customs swiftly handed over the seized drugs to the NDLEA for full investigation. Onyeka hailed the seamless teamwork with NDLEA, the Navy, and Police, reaffirming zero tolerance for smuggling and urging full compliance with customs rules.
NDLEA commended the vigilance and pledged a thorough probe—showing inter-agency collaboration is a game-changer in Nigeria’s fight against drug cartels.
