Women from Akwa Ibom have called on Mrs. Patience Ibanga Akpabio to immediately apologize to her brother-in-law, Senate President Sen. Godswill Akpabio, over her unproven murder allegations. The Annang Women Advocacy Network International (AWANI) warned that if she refuses, she risks social exile and traditional sanctions under the ngwo ntie custom.
In a strong statement from leaders Uduak Essien and Mary Enang, AWANI condemned Patience’s social media attacks as a serious insult to both the Senate President and the entire Akwa Ibom community. They stressed that such behavior dishonors family, tradition, and could provoke divine and communal consequences. The group urged her to withdraw her accusations, saying, “Your actions strike at the heart of Annang values and threaten the peace we cherish.”
This warning comes as a last call for reconciliation, with Akwa Ibom women standing firm to protect their culture, dignity, and respect for their leaders.
