AFRICA UNITES TO FIGHT HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND RITUAL ABUSE — GOVERNORS AND LEADERS JOIN FORCES

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is calling for stronger collaboration among African countries to tackle human trafficking, ritual abuse, and exploitation. Speaking at the inaugural Africa Colloquium on Thursday, he emphasized that these crimes are a gross affront to humanity and that only a united effort can end them.

The event, themed “A United Front Against Ritual Abuse and Sacrifice,” brought together government officials, law enforcement, civil society, and international partners to brainstorm solutions. Sanwo-Olu highlighted that Lagos already has a Task Force fighting these crimes, working with national and international agencies to prosecute offenders, rehabilitate survivors, and raise awareness. He warned against dangerous myths linking ritual killings with power or success and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to support victims and pursue justice.

This gathering isn’t just about words it’s about action. Leaders agreed that Africa needs to declare loudly, “Our children are NOT for sale,” and commit to breaking the cycle of violence, bloodshed, and fear. The Attorney-General of Nigeria also stressed the importance of regional cooperation, while Pepperdine University’s Prof. Cameron Mc Collum promised continued partnership for justice reforms across the continent.
