NIMET UNIONS SUSPEND STRIKE AFTER TALKS WITH AVIATION MINISTER

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) unions have called off their planned strike, originally set to begin at midnight Wednesday, following constructive talks with the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo. The decision came after a productive meeting where staff welfare issues were deeply discussed and promising resolutions reached.

Resolutions included immediate payment of 30 omitted staff from the agency’s Internally Generated Revenue, partial release of furniture grants, and a commitment to follow up on the payment of 2024 minimum wage arrears. Minister Keyamo praised the unions for their maturity and underlined the government’s dedication to staff welfare, industrial harmony, and improving service delivery in the aviation sector.
